Keynote Address by Nvard Chalikyan at Davos Lodge Highlights Impact of Global Power Rivalry on South Caucasus

During the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025, the Davos Lodge hosted a series of side events focusing on critical global issues. Among the highlights was a keynote speech delivered by APRI Armenia Research Fellow Nvard Chalikyan, also nonresident Fellow at The Stimson Center.

Nvard’s address, “Big Power Rivalry and Its Impact on the South Caucasus: Need for Dialogue,” examined the evolving international world order, which is marked by the growing influence of new global players such as China and India. She highlighted how these geopolitical shifts are shaping the dynamics of the South Caucasus region, a traditionally complex and contested area.

She also explored the key dynamics of India–Armenia relations in particular (including infrastructure projects and defense cooperation). Emphasizing the importance of dialogue between great powers Nvard suggested that Armenia could become a unique platform for facilitating such dialogue during these turbulent times.
