APRI Armenia’s Representative Spoke in at the Annual Armenian Conference of the Regional Center for Democracy and Security

APRI Armenia Senior Research Fellow Benyamin Poghosyan took part in the panel discussion “Armenian Foreign and Security Policy after Washington,” held as part of the Third Annual Armenian Conference on Democratic Security organized by the Regional Center for Democracy and Security, a Yerevan-based independent think tank.

The conference, which took place on February 17, 2026, brought together representatives of Armenia’s civil society and expert community, members of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, and other stakeholders to discuss key developments in Armenia’s security and foreign policy environment following the Washington summit of August 8, 2025.

During the panel, participants examined Armenia’s foreign policy trajectory in the post-Washington period, the reactions of regional powers to the agreements reached in August 2025, and possible scenarios for future developments. In his remarks, Benyamin assessed the implications of the Washington Declaration for regional geopolitics and geoeconomics, and addressed the recent dynamics of the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process. He emphasized the importance of continued engagement by the United States and the European Union with Azerbaijan and Türkiye to support the signing of a peace agreement and the full unblocking of regional communications.
