The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) brings together more than 180 million people with a GDP of more than $2 trillion but its first decade has been marked by geopolitical challenges and regional tensions. Sanctions on Russia have inhibited growth in the largest economy in the union while the recent free trade agreement signed between the EAEU and Iran, and potential ones with India and the United Arab Emirates, bolster Armenia’s—and the other members’—economic prosperity. This session assesses the impact of the past 10 years of the EAEU and underscore the key challenges that remain.
