Leonid Nersisyan

Senior Research Fellow. Prior to joining APRI Armenia, Leonid served as a political and security analyst at the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow and was a consultant to the Ambassador of Sweden to Central Asia from 2020 to 2022, focusing on Russian foreign policy, arms control, and regional security issues. 

From 2018 to 2020, he was  Chief Executive Officer at the Armenian Research and Development Institute (ARDI), providing strategic consultancy on defense, policy, and security topics to government institutions, embassies, private companies, and international think tanks.

He is a co-author of books including Storm in the Caucasus and The Air War in Ukraine: The First Year of Conflict, and has written more than 350 analytical articles for various publications.

Field of expertise: Armed conflicts and arms control, Armenia’s military agreements and the Army Transformation Concept, the Armenian armed forces,  defense industry, military technology, modern warfare, Russia’s military policy.
